Description: The goal of the two-workshop series is to introduce the importance of developing data literacy to promote culturally responsive teaching and to provide TPPs with an initial roadmap for how to begin teaching data literacy to promote equity. In Workshop 1, the objectives are to:
- Increase understanding of the skills, knowledge, and dispositions educators need to be data literate from the perspective of culturally responsive teaching;
- Engage participants in iterative activities to explore cases of how to use data to address equity, diversity, and culturally responsive practices, including cognitive, non-cognitive, socio-emotional, contextual, and other relevant data variables; and
- Create awareness of how to use an asset model of data use that focuses teachers on understanding the strengths and needs of each student.
